What is the Student Hunger Drive? The Student Hunger Drive is a campaign help feed our area hungry while instilling a sense of volunteerism and community in area youth. Community leaders partner with local foodbanks and area schools to host a 6 week challenge every fall. Currently, Student Hunger Drives are taking place in the Quad Cities (Iowa & Illinois), Charlotte, North Carolina and Northern Indiana (NEW IN 2012!). Students are the power behind this mission creating fun and innovative ways to raise money, collect food and feed the hungry.
How do Students Participate?Students participate through their local high school. With the help of a faculty adviser student teams plan events to promote the drive, organize their food collection, as well as package and deliver food to the foodbank. Students are recognized for their efforts at an awards party on the final day of the drive. Prizes are awarded for different levels of achievement, creativity and leadership.
